Pupils and staff take part in fancy dress cross-country

Pupils and staff at Rydal Penrhos took part in a fancy dress cross country to raise funds for the Forces Children’s Trust.

The annual event was held at the school on Monday, December 14, and this year brought with it an added twist.

Sixth form pupils were invited to run the gruelling course in fancy dress providing they made a contribution to chosen charity the Forces Children’s Trust, which is devoted to helping children whose father or mother has died, or has sustained life changing injuries whilst serving as a member of the British Armed Forces.

Despite the muddy conditions the pupils managed to tackle the course, despite a few falls down the hill as demonstrated by our resident swimming star Teddy Roberts.

A number of staff also tackled the course to raise funds for the charity, which was chosen by Director of Sport Allen Boyd.

He said: “We wanted to something a little different this year to get as many people as possible involved in the cross country, and having the fancy dress option hopefully raised some much needed funds for a fantastic cause.

“The weather hasn’t been great and that made conditions difficult, but everyone seemed to have a good time getting muddy and I would like to thank all pupils and staff who played a part in making the event a success.”
