Nomination by Bilfinger Industrial Services: In recognition of being awarded winner of the one of the Large Contractor Workgroups of the Year 2012 Award, Bilfinger chose the Forces Children’s Trust. Some of the company managers are ex-forces. Also Billy McVicar’s old friends/comrades served in the forces and John Ferrand’s son also served in the Royal Engineers, so many personal ties to the nomination of this charity.
Steve Start charity representative explained the charity was set up by Denny Wise to close a gap in the support facility for those children who are either deeply affected by their loss of parents during their tour of duties or whose parent has sustained life-threatening injuries whilst serving. The Trust covers all service disciplines in the UK (RAF, Army & Navy). Forms of support vary from organising counselling sessions, outings & trips to Disneyland Florida. They were extremely grateful for this donation that will help towards funding the FCT Outward Bound courses, educational trips, the provision of laptop computers for those with educational difficulties such as dyslexia, holidays and trips to the theatre plus the annual Christmas Party.
