During their 30 week attendance at RAFC Cranwell, Initial Officer Training Course 30 raised a total of £1539 in support of Forces Childrens’ Trust Charity. A total of 27 cadets formed D Squadron and were sponsored for community work at a local school on their ‘Just Giving’ donation page.
They also held a charity auction in their home at College Hall Officers’ Mess donating such things as breakfast in bed, car valet, shoe bulling and VIP car parking. The cadets chose Forces Childrens’ Trust as their charity due to members of the course having seen the work they do first hand. As approximately half of the cadets have served in the Royal Air Force previously, they have seen the effects of deployed operations and the toll it can take on the families at home.
Founding member of the charity, Mr Denny Wise, visited the cadets a week prior to graduation and thanked them for their efforts. D Squadron was pleased to host Denny and saw his visit as a great opportunity to learn more about the work the charity carry out.
